Time Together

First off, let me say that I have the most amazing husband in the world.  He is in love with the Lord and strives to serve Him in all aspects of his life.  Last weekend, I went to the Woodlands Church Women's Retreat and encountered the Lord in a huge way.  Praise Him that He is willing to reveal our sins to us and give us the strength to seek Him as we walk through things. Anyways, I came home on Sunday to a surprise.

As I walked in the door, I was instructed to look at the PS3.  I looked to the place where it is typically located and it was gone!  Steve then went on to explain that he felt convicted about how he spends his free time and out of obedience to our Savior, sold his game system.  What guy would do that?  He then told me that selling his game system wasn't all he did that weekend.  He pulled out a box and had me open it.  Inside was a Nikon D40 that he bought with the money from his PS3!  I was looking into buying this camera from a friend of mine, but decided not to due to being a tight wad.

Today we went on our first adventure with our new friend and here are some of the results.  Steve and I are trying to use our free time in a constructive way, so we took a walk and snapped some shots along the way!  Here are some of our first attempts.  We are new at this, so don't expect anything amazing.

Let's start off with an interesting picture of our cat...

...and our nephew, Wicket

Here's another for good measure

The next pictures are from our walk today!

We found a lonely shoe and Steve took this picture of it.

A Little R&R

This past week, we were blessed with a chance to go on a vacation with some wonderful friends of ours.  God is good to know what we need.  It is always a good reminder that yes, we can travel to relaxing places, but it is only the Lord who provides us with true rest and peace.  We did not get the most amazing weather, but God brought Steve and I closer together, and our bond with the Simlers was tightened.  They are such a blessing to us!  We enjoyed our times spent with the Lord and encouraging each other towards Him by doing life together for a week.  The photo below gives you a glimpse into Steve's week. :)

Our first day there, we attempted to lay on the beach, and can you say freezing?  We were the only people on the beach for miles, I swear. Probably because we are hard core Wisconsinites.

We did enjoy (almost daily) the great and glorious game of bocce ball!  It is so much fun on the beach.  It is incredible how the terrain of one beach can change...small rivers, shell covered areas, trenches, dunes, holes, and of course the random moving target of a seagull.  Maybe you had to be there.

We did our best not to disturb their peace.  We also spent many hours playing games such as Pass the Pigs (I should probably write a post on this game...incredible), cribbage, and euchre.

It's Blurry...

Oh...and if you are wondering about the white thing on my head.  The first day, there was overcast.  No need for sunscreen, right?!  WRONG!  My face is not only burnt and peeling like crazy, it was swollen for about two days. Think Sloth from The Goonies, "Hey you guuyyyysss!"  Ok, so it wasn't that bad.

Myrtle beach also has many shops and boardwalks that we enjoyed despite the cold.

One boardwalk had these nasty catfish that you could feed.  I chose to feed a duck instead.

I'll leave you with this...Praise God. He is incredible!

Adventure 1 in Bloggerland

As Steve and I were discussing some of the people in our lives, and the blogs that they write, we thought it would be a neat idea to write one together.   The idea of a joint blog seemed simple, fun, and somewhat adventurous.  Straightaway I began picking colors, photos, layout, and all of the design elements of our blog.  We have a similar style in colors and design, so I knew he would be ok with the colors I chose.

I also went ahead and titled our blog, as you have probably read, "Walking In Step."  As a woman, I quickly resorted to a sentimental and somewhat spiritual title that would "encompass our life."  The thought that probably went through my head was something like this: "Well, what will we be writing about on our blog...hmm...our life adventures...and most likely the Lord!"  I then arrived on our title "Walking in Step" because we will be walking through life with both the Lord and each other.  Makes sense right?...right!

Shortly after I applied my clever, meaningful title to the blog, I heard a voice come from the rocker in the corner of the living room.  It said something like this, "You know what we should name our blog?!  "The BLERG!"  Of course that was coupled with a clever look on his face as well.  It was at that point that I knew this blog would be more than a blog about our adventures as a married couple, future children, cooking, home projects, and vacations...I had to take into account that this very blog may also include postings about sports, jokes, and other "guy stuff."

I guess that is the price I will pay for sharing the same blog space with my husband.  I am actually getting really excited about this "everything blog" the more I think about it.  If all that comes from it is a way for us to document things that happen in our life together, than my vision has been accomplished...even if those events include things like Steve blogging about the Packers making it to the super bowl next year.

Let it begin!
