A Little R&R

This past week, we were blessed with a chance to go on a vacation with some wonderful friends of ours.  God is good to know what we need.  It is always a good reminder that yes, we can travel to relaxing places, but it is only the Lord who provides us with true rest and peace.  We did not get the most amazing weather, but God brought Steve and I closer together, and our bond with the Simlers was tightened.  They are such a blessing to us!  We enjoyed our times spent with the Lord and encouraging each other towards Him by doing life together for a week.  The photo below gives you a glimpse into Steve's week. :)

Our first day there, we attempted to lay on the beach, and can you say freezing?  We were the only people on the beach for miles, I swear. Probably because we are hard core Wisconsinites.

We did enjoy (almost daily) the great and glorious game of bocce ball!  It is so much fun on the beach.  It is incredible how the terrain of one beach can change...small rivers, shell covered areas, trenches, dunes, holes, and of course the random moving target of a seagull.  Maybe you had to be there.

We did our best not to disturb their peace.  We also spent many hours playing games such as Pass the Pigs (I should probably write a post on this game...incredible), cribbage, and euchre.

It's Blurry...

Oh...and if you are wondering about the white thing on my head.  The first day, there was overcast.  No need for sunscreen, right?!  WRONG!  My face is not only burnt and peeling like crazy, it was swollen for about two days. Think Sloth from The Goonies, "Hey you guuyyyysss!"  Ok, so it wasn't that bad.

Myrtle beach also has many shops and boardwalks that we enjoyed despite the cold.

One boardwalk had these nasty catfish that you could feed.  I chose to feed a duck instead.

I'll leave you with this...Praise God. He is incredible!
